Application Fee

  • The Application fee for candidates applying for only Paper I or Paper II will ₹1000 for General and OBC(NCL) candidates and ₹500 for SC/ST/ PwD Candidates.
  • The Application fee for candidates applying for both Paper I and Paper II will be ₹1200 for General / OBC(NCL) candidates and ₹600 for SC/ST/ PwD candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Primary Level (Classes I to V)

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and has passed or currently is in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
    OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and has passed or currently is in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002.
    OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or currently in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or currently in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Eligibility Criteria for Junior Level (Classes VI to VIII)

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and either passed or currently in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and either passed or currently in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program.
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and either passed or currently in the final year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program, according to NCTE regulations.
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and either passed or currently in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) program.
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and either passed or currently in the final year of a 4-year B.A./ B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed program.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and either passed or currently in the final of a B.Ed. program.
  • Candidates with any B.Ed. qualification recognized by the NCTE is eligible for TET/CTET. As per NCTE guidelines (dated 11/02/2011), individuals enrolled in any teacher education course recognized by NCTE or RCI (as per the NCTE notification dates 23/08/2010) are also eligible for TET/CTET.
  • Post-graduation with at least 55% marks and either passed or currently in the final year of a 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed. program.

Structure of the exam

All the questions in CTET will be Mulitple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four alternatives out of which one answer will be most appropriate. Each carries one mark and there will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of CTET:

  • Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
  • Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

  • Click on the link “Apply Online”.
