The Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh is inviting applications to fill up the 300 vacant posts of peon from eligible candidates. All interested candidates can apply for this recruitment from 25th August 2024 to 20 September 2024 on the official website of The Chandigarh High Court.

Age Relaxation

  • The minimum age of all the candidates should not be less than 18 Years.
  • The maximum age of candidates shall not be more than 35 Years as of 20/09/2024 except for the following categories candidates:
    • Person with Disability: 10 Years above the prescribed upper age limit.
    • Ex-Servicemen: By number of years equal to his defense service plus 3 years.

Education Qualification

The minimum education qualification required for this is 8th class and the maximum is 10+2 from a recognised School Education Board/recognised school. Candidates, please note that All those candidates who have qualifications higher than the maximum prescribed qualification will not be eligible for direct recruitment.

How to Pay the Application Fees?

To pay the Application fees the candidates must follow the following steps:

  • Visit The Website Link – Click Here
  • Click on the “Apply Online option”
  • Select the name of the Post for which you wish to apply and fill up other details and click submit.
  • On Submission, your login will be created.
  • Go to User Action and Click on “Applicant Login”.
  • Enter your login details and click on submit.
  • After login Click ” Pay Application Fees in Step-2 first’ (Refer Image to below).
  • The payment Gateway page will open with Options for online payment such as Credit/ Debit cards/ Net Banking/ Wallets/ UPI etc.
  • Platform charges / Bank charges are applicable/ payable Extra.
  • In case your payment fails. Candidates are advised to wait for a couple of hours before making a re-payment.
  • Option to complete the fill up of application form and uploading documents and final submission will be available only after payment of applications fees. However fee not paid will be treated as an incomplete application and hence will be summarily rejected.

Selection Process

Examination

  • All the candidates applying for the post will have to appear for a Written examination of 100 marks.
  • The date of the exam will notified on the official website of The Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh (https://highcourtchd.gov.in/).
  • The test will be conducted in English, Hindi, and Punjabi languages.
  • In total, there will be 50 Multiple Choice Questions ( 2 marks each).
  • The Exam will comprise of questions from General knowledge, General Awareness, Current affairs, and Numerical ability.
  • There will be no negative markings on the exam.
  • The total duration of the Exam will be 90 minutes.
  • Candidates belonging to the general category are required to score 50% marks and The candidates belonging to the Reserved category are required to score 45% marks to appear in the next stage.

Physical Endurance Test

In order of their merit in the written test the candidates will be called for the Physical Endurance Test which will be qualifying in nature. The candidates belonging to the Person with Disability (PwD) category are exempted from clearing the Physical Endurance Test. The Test will consist of three activities:

  • 800 meter Race
  • Long Jump
  • High Jump

The criteria for conducting the physical endurance test shall be as follows:

The Final List of provisionally selected candidates (as per the number of vacancies advertised) of the General, SC/ ST/ BC, and Ex-Servicemen categories shall be prepared from the list of candidates qualifying Physical Endurance Test, strictly based on their merit in the written test. The Candidates belonging to PwD Category are exempted from appearing in the Physical Endurance Test and the seats reserved for such candidates shall be filled up strictly based on their merit in the written test.

How to Fill The Application

  • Click on the Apply Online button to Register yourself. You will receive an online application registration number via SMS/E-Mail.Check your E-Mail Spam Box if the message is not received in your Inbox.
  • Next, Click on the Applicant Login button to complete your form submission.
  • Upload Only Recent, Not older than 30 days, clear-colored photo/signature images. Keep ready the following details before clicking the ‘Applicant Login’ button  
    • Latest / recent colored photo (maximum 50 kb) in jpg format only.
    • Signature (maximum 50 kb) in jpg format only.
    • Personal details
    • Valid and Active E-Mail ID 
    • Valid and Active Mobile No for receiving SMS alerts 
    • Online payment facilities such as net banking, debit/credit card/UPI, etc. 
  • Any Candidate belonging to the General or reserved category can submit only one application for a particular category. In case a candidate submits more than one application, then the latest application will be considered only.
  • Candidates are advised to provide correct details in all the columns of the online application.  No request for correcting details/documents will be entertained after applying. Candidates are advised to retain access to the Mobile number and Email as provided in the Online application till completion of the selection procedure.  No request for change in mobile number and email will be accepted for whatever reason it may be. Once the candidate uploads all the essential documents and clicks on the ” Save” button, then the page will be redirected to ” Edit” mode wherein, he/she can edit the personal details and re-upload the documents, if any. However, eligibility criteria details cannot be edited. Hard copies are not required to be sent by post now.

Yes, Candidates working in government departments, Semi-government departments, PSUs, Corporations, or Boards must submit a Forwarding Letter / No Objection Certificate (Annexure-II) from their Head of Department during document verification or Whenever asked by the Honorable High Court.

What Should I do if I have a close relative working in the High Court or any Subordinate Court in Punjab, Haryana, or U.T. Chandigarh?

You must disclose this information in your online application form and submit an undertaking at the time of document checking or whenever asked by the Honorable High Court.
